Psychological First Aid Instructor
Course summary
Emergency Psychology is the branch of psychology that deals with the reactions and experiences of individuals before, during, and after an emergency.
Its mission is to apply psychological interventions to prepare the population for catastrophic situations and mitigate the acute stress reactions inherent in such situations, with the aim of preventing the subsequent development of post-exposure pathology.
This strategy is known as Psychological First Aid (PFA).
As first response teams are the initial arrivals at emergency scenes and these teams are composed of professionals from various fields (firefighters, police, doctors, paramedics, nurses, etc.), efforts have been made to design tools that can be learned and practiced in training by all responders during initial response or by anyone who needs to provide assistance or support, regardless of their initial background.
